Catherine Wants to Cast Rob as Bird Boy :)

From MTV.com:

Under the watchful eye and creative mind of director Catherine Hardwicke, "Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have gone from virtual unknowns to superstar celebrities. And if Hardwicke has her way, the trio not only have a past and present together, but a future as well.

"There's a few projects in the future that I hope we get to work together on," Hardwicke revealed to us on the red carpet of Hollywood Life's Young Hollywood Awards. "We'll see."

The red-hot filmmaker with the largest opening weekend for any female director was in attendance to pick up a Dream Director award, just one week after "Twilight" dominated the MTV Movie Awards. "We had fun that night," she laughed. "Lots of yummy popcorn!"

When we spoke with her recently, she listed the four high-profile projects she's developing as KStew and RPattz continue work on the "Twilight" saga. "We've got 'Maximum Ride,' " she said. "That's a really wild, big-action fantasy film with bird kids. Then I have a cool project at Overture with Emile Hirsch that's a modern retelling of 'Hamlet' — a very radical version. And then at Summit, we have 'If I Stay,' which is another really nice novel that we're adapting."(Gozde: Bird kids? Too many jokes...must mock Catherine...Read 4tnz's hilarious take on it here)

According to Hardwicke, she's planning to solicit Pattinson and/or Stewart for roles in the fantasy films "Ride" and "Stay."

"Some of the projects I'm doing, they would be in a completely different world — actually, sometimes even in a different time period," Hardwicke said of the two films, which could return Stewart and Pattinson to the young-adult-fantasy realm that made them famous. "That would be fun. I'd love to do a number on them and transform them."

"Maximum Ride" is based on a series of James Patterson novels telling the story of six teens who are genetically altered to become part bird and part human. "If I Stay" seems particularly suitable for Stewart, since it tells the story of a 17-year-old musician named Mia. A huge fan of music, KStew will soon play Joan Jett in the film "The Runaways."

Recently, Hardwicke took MTV for a rare tour inside her house, where she cast Stewart and Pattinson after a particularly sultry audition on her bed. And while speaking to us Sunday night, she once again marveled at how far the duo have come since those early days.

"They've definitely gotten more and more confident in themselves. Obviously, that day was awkward — to just meet somebody, and then you need to kiss them right then. And especially because Kristen had to kiss three other guys, poor thing," she laughed. "I think that they've become more self-confident and strong with the camera. And they're just beautiful and blossoming. They've always been very deep. They always go deep into their characters and care about it. Their core is the same"

That Maximum ride movie doesn't sound that good... I hope Rob doesn't take a role like that, playing a teenager who's half human half bird, like WTF?!

This is HILARIOUS! Not sure I could keep a straight face if Rob played a half bird/half boy thingy. WTF!

Wait. Birds don't wear clothes, right? SCORE! :P

Just ... no. Rob doesn't need to subject himself to anymore of CH's "directing." He needs to improve and gain some respect, not look like an idiot.

I'm betting Rob will pass on the Maximum Ride series. If/when he works with Catherine again, I think it will be some time down the road...like years.

The RobBird is hysterical!I think that Catherine is a little delusional (make that ALOT delusional) if she thinks that Rob would even consider playing such an embarrasing role. Thank God she's not directing any more Twilight movies; she'd probably have the wolves wearing bow ties in New Moon or something bizarre like that!!!

Cuckoo-Cathy had better keep her birdie claws off Rob's future projects.

I'm not worried about Kristen, that girl certainly knows how to deal with the old crone (I can't bring myself to liking Kristen, bless her outspoken soul, but I just loved her and her not-so-subtle zingers in the DVD commentary).

But Rob might just have enough gratitude left for the old fame-leech to let himself be dragged in another one of her signature directorial disasters.

Yes, she is the female director with the largest opening weekend but without the smallest amount of sensibility or the least idea of what directing means. The box-office success was due almost entirely to the success of Stephenie Meyer's books.

I do realize I sound like some crazy-hatemail-sending-twihard, but that woman just spoiled the next 50 years of my life - that is, until enough time has passed before they can make a Twilight remake that will allow us to smile indulgently at her failed ambition as an "old original classic".

But then there will be no Rob to play Edward.

Which reminds me of the only reason why I should forgive Catherine.
She handpicked Kristen who handpicked Rob.

I love you, Catherine, you old ... witch.

Re: If I Stay:

I read this book recently, and while Kristen could probably still pass for Mia, the 17-year-old protagonist, I certainly hope that Catherine Hardwicke is not thinking of offering the boyfriend role to RP.

In the book, as I recall, it's fairly important that the boyfriend is perhaps just two years older (no more) than Mia, and (despite RP's preposterously young alleged age in Twilight) there is no way that manly RP could pull this off convincingly.

And casting RP with Kristen (again) would also seem a bit nepotistic—and desperate?—on Catherine Hardwicke's part.

Just my opinion....:)

P.S. That bird photo is SO disturbing! It's like a Seinfeld "puffy shirt," comprised of feathers....

This is so wrong..that photo gave me the creeps. I like her bubbly personality, and will always thank her for casting Rob as Edward. Some of her comments irked me on the commentary part of Twilight's DVD, she was all KS gushing.

But that aside..I can't help looking at her and thinking that Geddy Lee is her evil twin..hey, I love RUSH, I've worked with them, released a couple of thier albums and think they're excellent..just saying that as soon as I saw Catherine, Geddy Lee's face zoomed in front of my eyes..anyone else?

Here's a link in case you've never heard of or seen RUSH
