Bobby Long doesn't wanna talk about Rob!

I for one don't blame the fella he is trying to make a name for himself...Rob already has.
What question do you wish that people would stop asking you?
I wish people would stop asking me about Rob [Pattinson, the actor], to a certain extent. Because it's just unnerving when people ask me questions about one of my best friends and expect me to answer them.

I do think it's really nice that all of us in that friendship group are really starting to work. That's really lovely. And we're doing what we love doing. Me, Sam, Marcus, Rob and Tom [Sturridge, a London based actor], we're all working really hard. It's really nice being around each other. We are complete individuals. We're different musicians and very different actors

Rob has the best friends EVAH!!!!

It always warms my heart when his friends step up and protect him...

Rob...you are a righteous dude!!!

The people that are your closest friends....that speaks volumes about you! You are one class act!

I know this has nothing to do with Rob or his friends but as you Rob does have rivals. One of them being Zac Efron who copied Rob's signature hot-hobo look with the stocking cap/tuque. Guess what??
He made it in TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential 2009. This is so effed up. Rob is much more talented, genuine and intelligent than this perpetual pubescent!

TIME Magazine, I have lost respect for you. Seriously, I' ll never see you guys the same way again. I question your intelligence in your choice of actions.

DH & I saw Bobby at the HotelCafe in LA and I reviewed it here in comments about April 11. He is quite talented, verrry attractive and deserves the attention.

But truthfully, I think Bobby should be grateful to his friend Rob Pattinson for bringing Bobby's music to such a wide audience. I know he is grateful and I believe he should accept that with Rob's fame there will be questions about Rob. Seems to me all he needs to do is discuss with Rob what is OK to talk about and then stick to that.

I'm sure he gets tired of being asked about Rob, but he's only done a few dates here in the US. Likely he wouldn't be here playing without that song on the "Twilight" soundtrack. So, just stroke the hand that feeds you, Bobby! In time, his talent will carry him forward...

I missed Bobby last month, unfortunately. He'll be here in September though. I'll be sure to catch him then.

I could understand....Why would Bobby want to talk about the other guy (Rob) Bobby is trying to make a name for him self. I have NO hard fellings towards Bobby.

Kathy#1 said...

I can totally understand that he is getting tired of having questions asked about Rob. In fact, all of his friends and acquaintances are getting tired of it. I am as obsessed with Rob as anyone, but I wish the "fans" would start asking these talented musicians and actors something germaine to what they are doing and not what's up with Rob.

phosphorus said...

@ Chicago Girl: I don't think Bobby isn't grateful for what Rob's fame has done for his music. But I can fully understand he doesn't want to talk about Rob again and again. People try to use him to find out more personal things about Rob - I wouldn't like that either. After all, Rob is one of his best friends - you don't betray your friends to the media or the public, right?

Besides, he said "I wish people would stop asking me about Rob, to a certain extent."

I read the entire interview.. N seriously the guy is cety talented... The selfish worthless pplout there shud stopusing him as a tool to get sum sruff abt Rob!! Dont we have enuf sources already?? Besides its not like Rob's been in a hideout or sumthin since his movies have come out, has he?? Im pretty sure if he's asked sensible queations he'll be nice enuf to answer them himself!
Stop troubling his best friends for it!

Ya I can imagine what it must be like when your being interviewed about you music and then you just get asked questions (maybe even sometimes personal ones) about your friends. I mean you just don't tell stuff like that. Hope Bobby has continued success! ;-)

Jules, that is one true statement if ever I heard one!

I believe you are measured by the company you keep.

My company is so solid, I vow everyday to deserve them.

Good morning, Phosphorus!

Did you read my entire post? I certainly don't believe Bobby is ungrateful, just not used to the US Rob mania. Why do you have the idea people are trying to use Bobby? Or that betrayal could be a part of anything?

The Bobby that I saw in person was friendly, honest and mature. Anyone who is close to a famous person is going to be asked about them. It is human nature. I'm guessing that Bobby is going through a big adjustment period with his career, leaving England for the first time and learning how to deal with fame and a different culture.

adrienne trafford said...

i kind of believe he should be more grateful - he would not be getting this type of attention without a few questions about Rob - be happy you hit the jackpot and have Rob as a friend...answer a few questions, it's not going to kill you...

Bobby is an amazing talent on his own...
he'll make a name for himself...I'm sure all of Rob's friends tease him about his "sudden" fame....

I will be seeing Bobby perform in August. And like Suz, I promise not to mention that Twilight guy either.

Good evening, Chicago Girl,

perhaps "betrayal" is too strong. But I think we all know that people do ask Bobby those questions about Rob to find out more about him, especially more personal things. We lived on pizza and often sat on the roof, playing guitar wasn't enough, people are fishing for more information. This is why I had the impression he feels used. If one of my friends suddenly became famous I wouldn't want to talk a lot about them - in my eyes, giving out private information would be like selling them out. Seems like Bobby is a loyal friend and doesn't like that either. So he wishes they'd stop asking about Rob, to a certain extent. Sounds like he does understand that people are curious.

Saw Bobby twice while he was in LA. He is very kind extremely talented and really just wants his music to stand on its own.
Yes he has gotten a boost from co-writing a song that was on the soundtrack. But now he wants his music to be what keeps people listening.

Great interview with Marcus Foster and Bobby crap sound occasionally but stick till the end-they sing Crooked Sky which they wrote at the same time as Let Me Sign (which for whatever reason is in fine quality)

http://www.vimeo.com/4240617

They also discuss how they came about writing it...Mates flat keys..Pizza...and rooftops :)

Ugh I guess mark ups don't work here!!

@ Lisa: But HTML-tags work: a href="... etc.

this poor guy and all of rob's friends... plus rob.. man it is crazy what they are all having to deal with ... i understand the devotion but the hysteria is well as rob has said "overwhelming"....

Hi Suz, Jewels, Kate, DS, Chica, EVERYONE *waves*

Jules, you're right! Rob's friends always seem genuine and supportive of each other. Understandably he's uncomfortable about being asked about a friend and speaking for or about him. Obviously ANYTHING he says can be misinterpreted.

He doesn't want to look like he's taking advantage of his friends fame or hard work. Hopefully he will rest easy knowing his talent is what will earn him long term fans.

phosphorus said...

@ Lisa: Thanks for the link. What a pity the sound is so awful. Too bad this lady didn't check on it while recording the interview.

TwiHartRK said...

Thanks for the link Lisa. I couldn't catch all they were saying about the Twilight fans...but it sounded like they appreciate people's interest but some things are over the top?? I'll try on my PC - better sound...

Around 21:50 someone did plug in the microphone properly, at last.

Lisa Serrano said...

@Phosphorous HTML tags how for clicky??

The best part is the end I actually think it is a different camera since the image and everything get better.

Kate said...

Hey Alie {{WAVES back}}

Lisa thanks for the link!
Pizza boys LOL Love the song at the end ;-)
God could you imagine going out for a drink with the two of them you wouldn't get a word in edgeways. I thought I could talk!! LOL

Hi, Alie, Kate, and everyone else!

Rob and his friends have such a strong link. Nice to know they have stayed so tight through all their career and life changes...

phosphorus said...

Lisa, it's very easy:

Great (a href="http://www.vimeo.com/4240617")interview(/a) with Marcus Forster ...

You only have to use different brackets: < and > instead of ( and ) - I have to use those here ( ) to show you how to do it. The result looks like this:

Great interview with Marcus Forster ...

The link appears in blue and is underlined. Just click on it.

Yeah, it might even be a different camera, one with a microphone that functions.

It's very useful, especially when the URLs are very long.

Hey Phos!

Lisa~
Glad to "see" you here. We haven't had a chance to compare notes on seeing Bobby perform. Did you see him at the Whiskey? Please review?! How did the two nights compare? Did he play the same songs? How was the audience? Did you read my review? Take care~

Hey Twiheart~

I agree, once Bobby gets through this transition period and gets a well-reviewed CD out, I'm sure he'll rest easy on his own talent.

Shani said...

I get it, the moral of this story is "we are complete individuals".
Meaning he wants to be only looked at and talked to about his merits mostly.Rob is off doing his thing and so are each one of them. None of them are attached at the hip or stuck up under each others asses.

And it is weird to be asked about YOUR best friend. Strangers all coming up to you acting like they know you and RP because they have read some personal things about your life...CREEPY...I would be freaked out to. It's human nature to protect what little privacy you may have.

Bobby Long is awesome! He's such a talented singer/songwriter/musician and his music makes me cry. I'm so excited to see him beginning his professional career and I can't wait to see what he does.

And Marcus Foster.
And Sam Bradley.

Ok Phosphorous lets see if
I can do the html markups :) LOL

Kick ass songby Bobby from Nashville!!

Chicago girl I never saw your review but I saw both shows at the Hotel Cafe didn't want to go to the whiskey I was slightly afraid of little fan girls being there. Took pictures and had a great time. 2nd nights show was more relaxed he seemed kinda tired the 1st show-he had literally just got off the plane like an hour before.

Lisa Serrano said...

Only took me two tries!!! Thank you Phosphorous

that was more complicated than IMBD markups:)

phosphorus said...

@ Lisa: Only because you aren't used to it yet. ;-) You have managed it very well so far.
