"Little Ashes" to be shown @ Cannes

Regent Worldwide Sales, the sales affiliate of Regent Entertainment, and CineTel Films have entered into a ‘strategic alliance’ for international sales of television and DVD rights, the companies announced Friday from Cannes.

Regent and CineTel titles at this year’s Cannes Marche du Film include “Little Ashes,” a historical drama about the college years of Salvador Dali and Federico Garcia Lorca, starring Robert Pattinson (“Twilight”) and Javier Beltran, Slamdance entry “Weathergirl” starring Tricia O’Kelly and Marc Harmon, “Icarus,” starring and directed by Dolph Lundgren and “I Spit on Your Grave,” the remake of the highly controversial 1978 cult classic.

I like this!! Great news, here's hoping we may get some info if we get to see it on the big screen here in Norway too. Will keep an eye on my local theater's website as the guy who replied to my email about screening it there said asap they know of a distributor that's where that info will be :-D.

Asp I see it I will post it :-) so Gozde or Dani can put a SCORE next to a Norwegian theater. Here's hoping!

this is great news but don't you know he's going to crap himself if he attends the showing. Poor bb. Come here till I mind you love ;-)

Can't wait till we see him all smiles in the sunshine of the south of france. If he's not going to cannes till tues, with any luck maybe he'll get a couple of days at home first. Lets hope so anyway.

Wow, that's amazing news!

Good for "Little Ashes"!!!

How fantastic for RP!

Perhaps the presentation of "Little Ashes" at such an elegant and respectable event will help to dispel RP's (to me) incongruous "teen heartthrob" image, and solidify his position as a serious, daring, and versatile character actor...who just happens to be painfully beautiful. ;)

P.S. RP must get photos w/Dolph Lundgren!

Lizalou said...

I think this is great news, also. But I will say, I'd like to see him cast in more mature roles. I know everyone is excited about this Hugh Jackman movie that he was just cast in, but I think putting him in the role of Rachel Weisz's son is ridiculous. Sure, technically she could be his young mother, but let's face it, Rob looks anything but 23.
Hollywood, stop casting him as the young, innocent man already! ARgh! He could handle a role written for a guy in his mid to late 20s fabulously.

LEANN:

If you read this, and are still accepting suggestions for your next video project's music: please consider doing an adorkable montage of RP's creative wardrobe choices (basically, any non-red carpet occasion ;))/rogue hair days, set to Prince's "If I Was Your Girlfriend."

"Would you let me dress you—I mean, help you pick out your clothes, before we go out?"

"Would you let me wash your hair?"

And the way Prince trails off, with naughty observations, at the end....

I mean, COME ON!!! ;P

Lizalou... Rob would definetly be able to pull of being older.Thats three movies of his, have a great time in Cannes Rob, try to relax a little too.

RPnKSaddict said...

This is really cool. Can you imagine how good this must make him feel to be promoting 3 or 4 movies at one of the most famous film festival.
I hope things like this make up for all of the (intrusive)fan and media(paps) down side he has to deal with.
I saw a video of a fan going up to him at his table at his BD party,Rob was polite and shook hands but then turned his back on the fan. This upset me that they intruded that far into his personal time and space. Sorry for the diatribe.

KK (she who maintains decorum) said...

Is Rob going to shine at Cannes or what????? I love all of this!!! Time for Rob to be seen as an "actor" not just as a heartthrob.

RPaddict - I agree with you that fans should try not to be too intrusive. Going up to a table when he is enjoying a meal seems a little much. He needs some modicum of privacy when out...he knows he will be hit up on the way in and the way out, and he is always gracious then.

KK (she who maintains decorum) said...

BTW - I wonder if Rob is busy cleaning up his sh*thole of a hotel room right now before he takes off for Cannes... HAHAHAHAHAHA:D

DD said...

What great news. Cannes is a major film festival and he is there for more than one film. I hope he enjoys himself. Recognition for his talent, not just his heartstopping good looks.

GOROB said...

This is great news! For ROB and "Little Ashes", I know the critics are wrong! GOROB!

I thought his friend Sam said he was a good cook and a neat freak,KK?

GOROB - Well...if a microwave counts as cooking!!! HAHA! :))))

The picture in the banner is killing me, does anyone know where to get a copy of it (without all the other stuff). He just looks so...amused in it.

And Rob will be in Cannes! Why can´t I be there? WHY???

Babs said...

This is a very big chance for him, I hope he has a good time in Cannes too.
I do hope he can spend some time at home between Cannes and Italy. The idea that he's so close to me is driving me insane! Ugh

Gemgirl65 said...

AAUUUUUGGGGH!!!! Mrs. R, that is a FABulous suggestion! I LOVE that song. The entire Sign O'The Times album is genius. Prince is a genius, period.

I am still waiting for the carpel tunnel that ensued after my first video attempt to subside. Posting on here ten times a day is not helping.

KK, what a thought...Rob trying to pack up his shiteous hotel room. 'Cause you know it's a craphole of dirty laundry, dirty ashtrays, and empty pizza boxes and beer bottles. I'd volunteer to help him, but it'd be very hard to NOT help myself to a few "souvenirs" along the way.

CanNOT. wait. to see RobInASuit. Or whatever he chooses to wear. Hopefully he will have a full scruff grown in by then from days without shaving. Makes me all tingly just thinking about it.

Mrs. Robinsane said...

Leann!

Re: "If I Was Your Girlfriend": So glad you concur!

*gauntlet thrown*

And now I have another classic Prince song suggestion, for what will undoubtedly be an astronomically, devastatingly suave and smiling CannesRob: "I Wanna Be Your Lover." ;P

*Mrs. R shamelessly telegraphing her overwhelming RP adoration*

Gemgirl65 said...

Mrs. R, I think you're actually telegraphing your overwhelming admiration for Prince today! ;)

I have every Prince album--many on vinyl or cassette--from 1979 (yes, the self-titled debut with the craptastic photo of naked Prince riding Pegasus) to 1995 (no newer stuff though.) So you're preaching to the choir here.

Am I weird for looking forward to hearing just what a screamfest the Cannes red carpet will be when Rob in all his glorious beauty as of late steps out of his limo? 'Cause I predict pandemonium of epic proportions, leading the rest of the A-listers to grouse about what the big deal is. Heh.

DD said...

Leann - I am with you. I can't wait to see RedCarpetRob. Our boy in a suit or a tux is sure to cause a major stir. He has such worldwide appeal. Lots of Rob fans are sure to show up. Just think of the glorious pics! Hurry Tuesday!

Yvonne said...

I agree, can't wait to see Rob at Cannes! I hope he's a little more comfortable there, than he was at the Oscars. He was SO nervous that night...
I'm so happy he will be getting the recognition he deserves as a serious actor. Time for the world to see what we've known all along!

Side Note: If anybody is lurking. Get to your TV now. Harry Potter GOF with Rob is on ABC right now. Looking to cute back then in 2005

WinWin said...

Hi girls, sleep deprivation is finally catching up to me.

hi KK, leanne, Mrs. R, shani and everyone here.

Gozde and Dani big hugs for you girls.

I'm so excited for Rob. I cannot wait to see what he'll wear. I am also praying for scruff.

Shani, I finally netflixed GOF and I got t in the mail today. Robfest tonight!

kespax said...

Maybe Mum & Dad will help sort out his messy hotel room & travel to Cannes with him - protect that precious boy.
Can't imagine Cannes being the most comfortable experience for bashful Rob,Mum could keep skanks at bay.
He's rumoured to be appearing on that funny oww button french show again.

Hope the French get news of Bel Ami confirmed or dashed.

Best thing about his very busy schedule - can't see how Summit can ever expect him to do anymore of the ghastly scream tours now.

WinWin said...

kespax, agree, hope his mom is invited for support at cannes and to keep trash away. And no more mall mobbings for Rob!

Marj said...

i love that pic from the interview ofRTP

Yvonne said...

shani, thanks for the tip. Just finished watching GOF....our guy was such a cutie :)

I said to dd that I didn't understand why we didn't get to see Cedric fight his dragon...I was so dissappointed :( She said, "mom. no one cares about Cedric, that's why it's called HARRY POTTER and the GOF....duh".

Huh, I care about Cedric.

Yvonne said...

yes, having mom at Cannes would be a good thing for Rob. I'm sure she's a protective mom, will keep him safe. kes - "protect that precious boy"...absolutely!

KK (she who maintains decorum) said...

Yvonne - Your daughter sounds like a bright girl!!!!

I didn't care much that Cedric died before I really knew who Rob was....now it makes me really sad. Isn't that weird???

KK (she who maintains decorum) said...

Okay that sounded bad. I was bummed when I first saw the movie because Cedric seemed like a nice kid. It just feels different now.

It was soooo dreamy seeing young Rob as Cedric...took on a whole new feeling this time around!

And when he said (as a ghost) for Harry to bring back his BODY to his Dad, well, it just cracks me up to hear Rob say it. Couldn't help thinking, "that's our Rob!"

About Cannes: I'm so glad Rob is going and I feel pretty positive we'll be seeing his professional shadows reappear (manager Nick and agent Stephanie) on the Red Carpet.

I'm just glad Rob's hair is getting longer which is how I like it.

PRAYERS FOR GOZDE that today's outcome for BIL was a good one. Love you dear, appreciate you!

kespax said...

Oh didn't poor sweet Cedric make you weep the first time around?

For me that is the highpoint of the Potter series to date, he was hauntingly lovely as Cedric, and it even beats Black/godfather guy dying, Cedric was just all good. It just hits home how dangerous & evil V is.
When Cedric dies that it's no longer kids school adventures.

Cedric certainly made ME shed a few tears the first time... (not to mention the flashbacks in the Order of the Phoenix!) Kespax said it all, I thought the whole thing was heartbreaking.

I already had a thing for Cedric in the book, but Rob took it to a whole new level, he was so lovely and good and perfect. In fact I distinctly remember, when I first heard Rob was cast as Edward, my first thought was "yay I'll get to see more Cedric". Now my priorities are in a slightly different order, but still, Cedric retains a special spot in my heart :))

Anna said...

oh and since the thread was originally on Cannes: there are more reports today that Rob is making an appearance at Le Grand Journal on Tuesday late afternoon, and then heading to the red carpet for an evening screening. I'm hoping for the tux/scruff combo. And if he can throw a couple French sentences on top, I'll be one HAPPY LittleBear.

Yes, I want to hear a couple of french sentences in Rob's mouth (more than just reading the teleprompter). I need to not forget to watch "le grand journal", it's on tuesday if I rightly understood... I hope that they do better than last time, it was really bad because they were just trying to be funny, but there was absolutely no content -_-.
