Chris Weitz: It's impossible to take a bad picture of Robert Pattinson

Setting the scene:
"I'd like to think the vibe on set was relatively calm. I was very careful to try to show the actors diagrams of the sets, so they didn't turn up without knowing what it was like first. It was fun once we got there, but very, very tiring."

Body Beautiful:
"It's impossible to take a bad picture of Rob, even with these motion picture spots all over him! I think the hysteria over him is greater than for any of the other guys because the character he's playing is unattainable and perfect. Thankfully, Rob has a highly developed sense of the absurd, so he doesn't suffer as much as he otherwise would. However, when we were in Vancouver, there were days when he would just stay indoors and read or watch movies. If he went to his window, people would scream! He was kind of a hermit, really/ It's hard for me to judge how he's changed because I didn't know him in the last movie." (Gozde: To lighten the mood: Chris it IS possible to take a bad picture of Rob just check HERE :))

Fan Frenzy:
"I tried not to check what fans were saying on the internet until the film finished, as I knew I'd be influenced by them. We had a lot of crazy fans show up during filming, especially in Italy. I mean crazy only in a nice way! More and more fans showed up every day until the entire town was just awash with young people. They didn't even sneak around - they were just there. I'd say 90% were what you'd think of as typical Twilight fans - young girls - and then there were the parents, the Twilight Mums... even the occasional heterosexual male! The only difficulty is when you have a camera, all the lighting gear and you're in a little city with small alleyways and there are thousands of fans there, it's actually hard to move from one place to another. That posed a practical probelem."

Kristen's Character:
"Kristen is one of those actors who inhabits the role she's playing. She was in Joan Jett mode [from filming The Runaways], and then was thrown into promoting New Moon. I think she addresses the questions put to her seriously, and that's not always what the fans are looking for. They want something fun and cute, but she's a serious character. Anyone would be uncomfortable in front of 7,000 screaming fans, it's just a question of how well you hide it."

Robsten's Snog Secrets:
"I was surprised at how clever Rob and Kristen are. That's not to say that I thought they were dummies before, but they had such a strong sense of their own characters and they're very serious about what they might say at any given moment. In a way, you expect people to coast a bit in the sequel or to think, 'This is not a realistic situation because I'm playing a girl who's in love with a vampire, so I have no responsiblilty to convey realistic emotions.' But they both want to put some kind of truth into everything, even when the scenes they're playing are just bizzare."

And here is Ben Barnes talking about Robert Pattinson:

Thanks for this Gozde. I've been totally won over by Chris W, another schmexy dork who brings a smile to my lips every time he opens his mouth. So glad he was there to shepherd the cast through the NM frenzy. Is it Nov 20th yet!?

What a nice article. I love Chris-

I crave Rob...

ps: I actually disagree about no bad pictures. I've seen some god awful shots of Rob taken by photographers with no sensitivity whatsoever to his quirky exotic beauty. Thank heaven CW was appreciative of the fine off-kilter angles of "The Pretty." (with full copyright acknowledgment to The Suz!)

I don't think Rob can take a bad photo either-although, some are not as good as others..

I may be biased.

I'm so liking Chris W, he seems like such a good guy. Too bad he isn't directing Eclipse. I agree, there's no bad pics of Rob, some are better than others and some are just to die for!!

Maybe Rob should try what Ben Barnes does to go incognito. He should grow his beard out and then wear a hat maybe that will hide him . . . or maybe not.

Though there are no bad pics of Rob NOW, I think *some* of the pics from his modeling days were not as flattering. NOTE: I said SOME...!! HAHA!

I love how both Rob and Kristen are very dedicated actors who really get into their characters. I find that they have more than just talent in common.

Yeah, the sexy sideburns are a giveaway.

Oh nooooooooo!!!! Ben Barnes is going to play Dorian Gray????? Aaaaagh! I'm so gutted... I so wanted Rob to play him! Bawwwwwww!!!!

OK, seriously, I'm sure Ben Barnes will do a great job, but still... :(

Ah, well, there is still Georges Duroy...

I gotta say, Rob's neighbourhood seems to be a cradle of art!

And by modeling days, I meant when he was a young teen. He's a very capable model now... As witnessed by the "illegal" pics from last week, hahaahah!

"Rob has a highly developed sense of the absurd"

I like that quote.

Ben Barnes seems like a likable bloke. Hope he's not annoyed that the title of his own interview is about Rob...

Hey, my comment disappeared! I love Chris W. and I'm glad he did NM. I hope we get some advertising soon. I can't wait for more peeks at it. And I still have those f*ckhawt pics from last week burned in my brain, so I cannot seem to imagine a bad pic of Rob. I consider it a crime against nature and humanity that those pics are not released for all to worship.

Well, I'd say 'never uninteresting.' Rob's photos never lack interest, lol, but Chris is right about the film camera and Rob. Unique relationship. Chris is always so dryly..um..polite!

If stating preferences: I'd like Rob to do the remake of Musketeers. Yeah, it's another period piece, kinda, but it's a Davies script. Think he could have fun!

Just feel the need to express my gratitude to CW in advance for NM. I have a feeling it's going to amazing..

I have a few bad pictures of Rob saved that I look at once and awhile just to keep myself in check.. How crazy is it that Ben Barnes used to hang out with Rob's sister?? It's a small world..

Robert is a pretty thing, and the camera likes him. His face is a little less symmetrical than most models, but that's what makes him hotter in a lot of ways. But that's why I think sometimes the angle can make him look so different.

CW is going to kick ass with New Moon, I wish he was directing Eclipse too to be honest...

oh, and I love how serious robert and kristen are, with all their methody ways. lol I remember the guy playing ARo mentioned that too in his twitter-how both of them don't coast, but take their parts seriously. Love that, most people would be like "pffft, he's a sparkley vampire, I just need to pout."

Thanks for posting this Gozde. Chris Weitz is just great! I like everything Chris has said about the making of NM and the cast. He really seems to get it.

@ Athena I lol at your comment about Rob’s neighbourhood seems to be a cradle of art, how true that is!

Have I told you lately that I love you, Chris? :)

(Still hoping for a Chris W. - BD connection!)

I love Chris, I liked his answers at comic con, he's a nice and funny guy. I think he got along very well with the cast, I'm sure he did a good job with NM. Keep changing directors could be risky, it's so easy to piss off twi fans :)

Are period pieces a bad thing?

Chris Weitz just shows how he came across in Italy, a genuinly cool guy, and the cutest director I have seen! I do find him cute. Charming too

And yes Kristen is still a kid technically even though she is "legal" in many states/countries. She is still just 19 years old and with that mentality to go with it. How she deals with the insanity do impress me, she does the best she can yet she is still called a BITCH which she was after the Bobby Long concert in Vancouver this past Monday. Why on earth call her that for? Cos she didn't stop for autograph or pics? Please, grow up ppl! If I was her I'd never stop either with crazies like that around!

I saw Kristen too while I was in Vancouver and she did look unapproachable, BUT only in a way she was in a hurry, trying to NOT attract attention and wanted to get out without being noticed. That kinda unapproachable, not a bitchy type. I was happy to let her go on her way without fuss. It pisses me off when ppl are bitching about these ppl not realizing they gotta deal with this every effin day. UGH

I also saw Rob at the concert, just a couple of glimpses though but hey enough for me lol.

And as for never a bad pic of Rob, he's human so of course there are bad pics of him too..sheesh lol. That could as well be cos of the photographer, angle and whatever but it is obvious that the camera lens LOVES Rob though. So I do agree with Chris Weitz there.

And well yep Chris is right about the amount of ppl in Italy, lots of them and lot of the young ones. But I do not get why us older ones are considered Twi-moms when there are several of us that do NOT have kids :p lol

I freaking love Ben Barnes. I wish he and Rob would team up in a movie. What a combo! Both beautiful, both singers, both from just outside of London, and both looking fabulous on camera. Heck, there's even variety: one dark and swarthy, one fair and pretty. A guy for every lady's taste. A dish of eyecandy for all.

@Abigail ~ I'm with you on that pairing!! Yummy!!!

I don't understand what this condescension is about age 19. In my world, girls are often married at 19, some having babies. In fact, my daughter had her first child when she (my daughter, not the baby) was 19.
Maturity does not equal age. I've had more than one suitor over age 40, still big babies; and have wonderful friends way younger than I who are at least as mature.
Although my own philosophies on age are: 1- I may grow old but I will never grow up, and 2-It's never too late to have a happy childhood, I nevertheless have always and ever been the transactional 'adult' -- Even way before age 19.
I think experience is another factor aside from personality, and Kristen has experience that may very well have shaped her into maturity well before her peers.

Hi abigail, I did mention that I also wanted Ben Barnes and Rob working together on a film on a previous post, don't get mad I just said that I wanted to see them doing a remake of Brokeback mountain..I think that would be like an ultimate challenge for both of these good-looking brits, although Rob already played a gay role in LA.
