If it is the site I am thinking of, it is streaming, not downloads. So it is legal. Now, as to whether Mr. P would approve, I don't know. I think having recordings of his music from open mic nights "out there" tends to embarrass him. And while it would be nice to let him take his time to get some proper studio recordings together, I know there are a LOT of people who want to hear his music like NOW!

I love the giggling in I'll be your lover too. And of course Rob just singing those words...THUD!

As usual, can't access it at work!

I have his music on my blog too, so I can listen there!

Listening to RobRadio right now!!! Love his voice and the emotion in it. Website needs a little fixing unless it's just that all of use are on it at the same time! LOL

VERY Cool.

Though NOT SO COOL that someone is selling his music on eBay.

Bootlegs and copies.. nothing official. Yea, a fan.

HA!

@Suz ~ Really? WTF is wrong with people. I was able to download some of his music from youtube but it's just for me, I would never think of selling it. Anything to make a buck using his name!!

If he doesn't like it, why do it?

I haven't listened to this yet. Is is just those three or four songs of his that are already "out there"? Or is it something else?

I hate that playing at open mic nights got ruined for him. I'm sure he misses it but I doubt he'll do it again for a long, long time. There's no way to be sure that someone won't record it and put it all over the internet.

It's his music, he gets to decide how and when it gets released.

@Emily ~ it's pretty much what's out there already. A combo of music from Open mic nights, Twilight and How To Be. I know, it's a shame that people have ruined it for him. Seems like it was a passion of his. I'm glad to have heard his performances but not happy the way some people have gone about it and taken advantage.

I don't think there's anything really wrong with the website because it's a dedication to his music though it is without his permission so I'm a bit conflicted.

I agree, it sucks because he did enjoy doing it so much, and then no control when it got recorded. Other than the Twilight stuff, everything else was just "taken"...
but I'm guilty because I have his playlist on my blog & listen to it all the time...

I'm a Rob junkie, I admit it...

Emily said...

I agree Linda. It's a tough call. I have no issue with the songs from Twilight and How to Be because he obviously is okay with them being released. It's the other stuff that's sort of a gray area for me.

I'm sure they're not making any money off of playing his music but just knowing that Rob didn't want it broadcast all over the world makes me think twice.

I agree that it totally sucks he can't do open mics anymore...I could listen to him forever, aside from who he is, I just love his voice.

This site looks really cool, I'm excited!

rpg - Lol @ being a Rob junkie. It's true. His voice (singing or speaking) is nearly impossible to resist.

RPLover - You're right! I think if I heard one of his songs on the radio and didn't know who Rob was, I'd still love it and listen to it over and over. He's so unique and crazy talented.

I often wonder what he would do or think if he KNEW how we obsess over every shirt, pair of shoes, hat, pants, button flys, what type of boxers he has on...facial expressions, coats..

Emily said...

I know how I would feel if people were doing that to me. Completely creeped out and a little violated, to say the least. :)

But I'm not sure anything would surprise him now. Hey, maybe he'd be flattered, you never know.

Hi might be! We know his wardrobe so well we could pick out his outfits each day..

God, he makes me crazy!

Emily said...

It's true. I'm sure we'll recognize at least one article of clothing, and definitely the shoes that he wears to the VMAs. He'll probably make his wardrobe decision about ten minutes before he has to be there. I love it.
Guaranteed he'll still look better than everyone else there.

@Emily,
You are so right!

Anonymous said...

Do you really think that he'll be there live and in person? I heard that Ashley will be fashion commentator. So maybe the cast will be there!

Emily said...

I wonder if he'll really be there too, Linda. It seems like appearances like this are such a chore. But yeah, maybe if the whole cast is there like at the TCAs it wouldn't be so bad.

I just can't figure out why they would go, just to introduce the clip-
It's not like the movie awards where they were nominated-so I don't get it. Long way to go to just introduce a trailer...

I'm happy we get to see him though..

He had these 4 other Songs on his mySpace music side.
3 of them have been freely downloadable back then.
So I asume it doesn´t bother him that much to know that they are out there.
OK, you can say he used a pseudonym and didn´t really want to be recognized, but still, it was an open mySpace side, if you put music on there, you want people to listen to it....and let´s face it, his music is just adorable....would be criminal to hold it back.
Give us some more Rob....plleeeaasse!!

Ach A--I thought you had good judgment! 'A musical, a cabaret' !?!

Does anyone know, is Rob's reluctance because he does not see himself and his talents clearly? Or because he doesn't want to seem like others who 'act' and then make (bad) music? Or because he wants to give his all to one skill-building at a time?
There are some terrific multi talented actor/writer/songwriters/singers out there; I can see him in those ranks.

AP said...

Solas: no, no judgement at all when it comes to Rob and his music.
I am truly desperate. No depths to which I will not sink! lol

As to his demurrals - think it all you mention and maybe more, because of Lizzie. I hope he can overcome. Making music is one of the great and true pleasures of life and being able to share it, another.

solas said...

A, I know; making music and sharing were among the happiest times of my life. I cut it short myself, and hope ROb does not end up with the same regrets or questions.

Is the question about not encroaching where Lizzie shines? Or fearing he cannot meet that place?

AP said...

More to do with seeing what the music biz can be like, particularly in the commercial sphere, I imagine.

He's in a good position now because he won't ever have to make a living by doing gigs. A kind of freedom. Hoping he'll keep going, The great Louis A said: "Musicians don't retire; they stop when there's no more music in them."
