Shani, you are so right! I love Hugh Jackman for many years now, and not only because he's so talented (acting, singing on Broadway, etc.). Moreover, he seems to be so a wonderful person in private, a loving husband and father. (Did you ever see the pics of Hugh playing with his kids on the beach?)
And btw, he's also the sexiest man alive :)!

Oh these pics are lovely....Hugh Jackman...yes I really liked him in Van Helsing but other than that don't know an awful lot about him but yes...he seems like a really genuine, unaffected, nice man - and I read somewhere his family are British - from London? I know he emigrated to Australia so is classed as an Aussie now but whatever he seems a 'good bloke' and I second Shani's comment about Hugh taking Rob under his wing...I think that would be great for Rob...he needs someone like that to guide him through all the madness and perhaps teach him a thing or two. They look as though they definitely clicked when in Japan so great....can't wait to see what transpires!

Hugh would be the greatest role model for Rob. I was thrilled when they had their karaoke night in Japan. I was flipping channels and caught Hugh picking up his daughter from swimming lesson and he was so adorable. Better Hugh than someone like Leo. Love Leo but the constant revolving door of supermodels make me a little sick.

Ladies, you have said it all. I would love to be the double stuffed meat in that sandwich! Hugh has been on my "to do list" for years and has only recently been topped by Rob. (You know, the one you and your spouse agree that if you ever get a chance to do any of these 6 people, you get it for free? Each gets their own list and it has to be written down prior to the tryst.)
Hugh is such a great role model for Rob, I hope he does mentor him in handling the fame. Of course the minute Rob touches or speaks to any female, they are instantly connected. (Touch me anywhere, Rob, please!) Anyone stating Rob and MF are a couple should be branded instantly so that no one will believe anything else they say. But if he isn't shagging me, I don't want to hear about who he is shagging because I don't care. Just so he practices up and will eventually be able to handle all us RobKats. *hoping, wishing*
As for Rob looking too old to be Rachel's son, I kind of agree. Hopefully there is budget enough to have makeup to make him look younger, because every picture I see of him, he looks ALL MAN!!!

Hugh Jackman is a class act - sing and dance and do a totally man action films - he's well rounded and not afraid to show his feminine side!! I was JUST thinking what ya'll said - he'll be a good role model for Rob.
Rob's got an old soul and a young body but he is looking older than just a young 23 for sure in these TCA shots. You can hear the old soul in his singing for sure.

I remember in one of Rob's interviews, probably for Twilight Tokyo premiere, when asked what he'd like to do in Japan, Rob said he'd like to go to a karaoke bar as he heard karaoke is big in Japan. Took the time to read every comment and I think I'm a little surprised to find so many here who adore Hugh too. I have for some time now. Saw him on Broadway in The Boy From OZ and he is without a doubt, the greatest stage performer I have ever seen and I've seen a few (that Oscar performance only scratched the surface of his talent in front of a live audience). Although I must admit, I never did see Michael Jackson perform live.
Hugh has pretty much been at the top of my list, that is...until...little Brit Boy came along and knocked me on my ass (you're number 2 now Hughie. Sorry) So to see a photo of them together, well...I'm just sitting here with a shit eating grin on my face waiting and wondering about how Unbound Captive is going to turn out.
Remember that day I told you guys about, when I met and spoke with Rob last year at Comic Con (before I knew who he or what Twilight was)? If I'd had more time to talk to him I would have told him...

LADIES I am ssooo sick today my disease carrying daughter gave me the flu. But on a positive note I turned on the TV at 12.15am and Ent. Tonight was on and I got to see the shortened version of the Twiliight interviews without having to suffer the TCA. Rob is the best cure ever and today with new photo's HUGH and ROB I am truly on the mend, not sure if it's a temperature or looking at the pick but it's getting hot in here.

Man oh man Leann, you sure nailed it with that IT thingy. Moment I first layed eyes on him (at the Con), I thought...'he's a hybrid of James Dean and Elvis Presley.' But it's more than that. It's...it's...I guess what it is, is in this day and age of "hot", Rob is just plain "cool." He just doesn't give a shit and that is what cool is all about. And you don't see much of that these days. Everyone is so self-conscious...about EVERYTHING; what they're wearing, who they're doing, the whole image thing. Not Rob. At least that's what I think it is. One of these days I'll figure it out and put my finger on it...hmmm...actually I'd like to put more than one thing on it.

Nikola I do not know if I can agree with what you say about Rob being so cool because he doesn't care.
I am only judging on his own comments in interviews not from anything "supposedly"said by him. I think his biggest problem with this fame thing is he does care LOTS..
He cares about being photographed.
He cares about the effect his fame may have on his family and friends.(including potential girlfriends)
He cares about doing the best job possible in whatever role he undertakes.
In his own way, even the way he dresses shows that he is aware of what people want from him.
He is a caring, sensitive person. I may be wrong but I would be willing bet on it.
The only thing different now is that the level of exposure is so much greater than last year.
He is not giving the candid interviews because Summit knows that he only needs to step out in public now and the wolves descend. (Hmm I think I've heard that line somewhere before??)
They don't need any extra publicity from him. All he has to do is make appearances at the odd function and do a magazine (GQ)interview every now and then.
His success is making their job sooooo much easier.
I sure hope he is at least making bucket loads of money to compensate for the total lack of privacy he has to endure now.

I didn't mean to imply that Rob is an uncaring person. Far from it. I think he is in fact, very sensitive and cares deeply about those he loves and yes, his career. What I meant was, he's not about the Hollywood "game." At least he doesn't want to be. But he's found himself in the middle of this worldwide phenomenon and to some degree, he's got to play along.
But you mark my words...once Twilight is done, were not going to see such a press friendly Rob. He's gonna take on very diverse and what some would even call 'odd' roles (think Depp in Scissorhands, Ed Wood, The Chocolate Factory and the upcoming Alice In Wonderland), roles that will challenge him as an actor. I just don't see him going the "romantic/comedy/leading man route. And all of this press? Nah. He's gonna clam up and do his own thing. He's been forced into this role (publicity, publicity, publicity) by Summit.
It will come to an end and he'll go on his own oddball way. You watch and see. And he'll lose fans along the way who will only want a continuation of the romantic leading man that was born with Edward Cullen.

Nik and Katykeene, great points, both. Nik, it is true that Rob doesn't care what people think about his taste in the superficial things: the clothes he wears, the music he listens to, the books he reads, the movies he watches...he marches to his the beat of his own drummer.
And yet at the same time, he does care deeply about the things that matter, as Katy pointed out so beautifully. He cares about people, about feelings, about his impact on the world. He has his priorities in perfect order, which is pretty amazing for a 23-year-old. Maybe this is why so many older women find him not only attractive but admirable as well.

can I add that I agree but also think that he liked the character of edward... I believe he doesn't want to be sutck with the heartthrob image and doesn't like the whole merchandising part but does enjoy thie making of the twilight saga and character and cast and crews...
Nikola I know from all you have written that you do not think Rob is uncaring. I just called you on your cool comment because I do not really see Rob as "cool".
I see him as a typical 23 year old who dresses just like so many 20 something males and females do. It is quite "in" to dress down.
I think that he carries this to extremes because of the press some days. I see it as his way of thumbing his nose at the constant intrusion from the Paps. I imagine they might not be able to sell as many pictures of Rob in the same old cloths.
BUT I still think he is always aware and becomes embarrassed by the constant media frenzy.
I personally will be very glad when the Twilight franchise is over. I am appalled at the stories about them spinning BD into 2/3?? movies. How are they all going to be able to keep up this hype (especially Rob) and stay emotionally involved in these characters for another year or so.
The longer it is dragged out the harder it is going to be for Rob.
I see a man who is going to need to take a long break when TW is finished because he is going to be seriously burnt out.
By the end of this year he will have been working on three (if UC is to start this year make that four) different movies. No one can sustain that level of energy without something giving.
I just hope that the other movies don't suffer because of this. I want him to be good in RM. I want him to be good in UC. These are the movies I think he is going to be defined by with the critics. I just hope he has not bitten off more than he can chew.
My heart went out a bit to Rob when he tried to do the 'right' thing at the acceptance speech with the patter and that half-raised hand gesture, but it really doesn't come easy. Rob is an old soul. And an artist. And a man who can fall over he's laughing so hard.
The thing I like about his face is that it isn't classically handsome. He can look ugly and then beautiful all in a second. Always fascinating and far more interesting than most.
Oh, and if you don't understand Hugh's appeal you need to try and meet him in person! ;)

Georgie thanks for telling me about that. I will look into it. My only problem is that I am taking my holidays middle of October to go to Pottsville Beach to see my son for his B'Day. Then spending a couple of weeks at North Haven for some beach rec. before heading back to Melb. I go back to work middle Nov. So lousy timing but I will check out my roster for then and see if I can work in a quick trip to Sydney.
Would love to get to that and meet some of you Robsessors.
OK we'll keep each other posted about it. Orion: I tried to book the flights first last night but something went awry on the Jetstar website and I lost the booking. Was gonna do it at work but forget to bring everyone's QFF numbers, so will do it tonight! Also booking to see Wicked the next night - that was the proviso that my girls will come and see Twilight and NM with me LOL! I can't wait to share my Robsession in person with others like-minded!

I agree that Hugh should take Rob under his wing and be a mentor to him;especially since Johnny Depp hasn't done that yet. (that's just my wishful thinking,Rob and Johnny together in a movie would cause me to just burst into flames). Both Rob and Hugh seem to be very down-to-earth, laid-back guys,and that's why they have developed this friendship.
Unbound Captives is gonna be one hell of a hot movie with both of them burning up the screen!!This movie is gonna draw all the women and girls in like a tractor beam. LOL
